Sir John Pakington (1549–1625)

Sir John Pakington (1549 – 18 January 1625) of Westwood Park near Droitwich and Aylesbury courtier in the reigns of Elizabeth I and James I. He was a member of the Privy Council under Queen Elizabeth (of whom he was an especial favourite) and a Knight of the Bath.

He was knighted in November 1587, and married the following year (Dorothy, née Smith, widow of Benedict Barnham). He outlived his son Sir John Pakington, 1st Baronet (created a baronet in 1620). He died in 1625 and was buried at Aylesbury, leaving as his heir his grandson Sir John Pakington, 2nd Baronet, who was still a child.
